Bourjois Velvet Stain

Posted by Buls on 4:56 PM in , , ,
I have been reading soooo much about this lipstick online and yet they have not yet launched in Delhi NCR. How can they be a hit already? Good PR?
I bought the shade Peach Club from asos.com. It cost me around 900 bucks including customs which is the price in India.

It is a lipstain which is a mix of lipstick and lipgloss. The consistency is that of a thick lipgloss which is completely opaque. The applicator is doe foot and applies well.
The shade is a coral... mix of pink, red and orange.

It applies comfortably and becomes matte in a few minutes... stays on for 4-5 hours and then fills into the fine lines. It becomes dry and I generally have to apply a lipbalm on top which turns it glossy.
It stays on for light eating and drinking but starts to come off after a heavy meal. Thats when it looks bad and needs a touch up or application of lip balm.

This is what it looks like immediately on application.

All in all, am ok about it. It does feel dry after a few hours and enters into fine lines which is a big con. But the color lasts since it becomes a stain after application of lip balm.
I don't plan to buy any more of these.

My favourite new launches

Posted by Buls on 10:08 PM in , , , , ,
I hauled the new launches from L'Oreal and Maybelline recently.

L'Oreal shine caresse lipstick and Maybelline lip polish gloss.

I bought the L'Oreal shine caresse listick in Juliette from nykaa.com. I love these lipstick/glosses. They need a little effort in the beginning but the texture is amazing.
This is a lip stain and not a lipstick/gloss. The colour depends on the colour of your lips... a lighter colour may not show up on pigmented lips. A darker colour may show up differently on different coloured lips.

Juliette is a red coloured stain. I need to apply 2-3 times for it to apply evenly. It stays on all day and looks glossy throughout. Unlike other stains it does not become matte... I really like that. It comes off a little on eating a heavy meal and needs to be re-touched.
Overall, I love the lip stains and have already purchased more shades. Priced at Rs 499 they are quite cheap (considering it is L'Oreal).

Another product I really love is Maybelline lip polish. This shade is glam 6 and priced at Rs Rs 450. It is a dark berry colour in the tube but comes on berry pink on the lips.

The gloss stays on for 4-5 hours... and leaves a pink stain. I love it. I am planning to purchase another 2-3 shades.

Sephora Lip Stain

Posted by Buls on 12:18 AM in , ,
On the last visit to Sephora I wanted to try something of the 'Sephora brand'. I decided to try a lip stain. I love lipsticks which come in a tube- e.g limited edition of MAC, NYX etc.

I purchased this for Rs 800. Don't know the quantity. It has a plastic packaging and an applicator.

The lip stain is red in colour... slightly darker than a blood red. I did not want to go to work today and decided to jazz up the day with this red lip stain. I wore for the first time. Yep... I have had it for 5-6 months.

I do not believe in subtle colours at work. You should wear what you want to... who said only dull and nude colours are apt for work? It was probably someone with no guts to wear funky colours.
I got a lot of compliments today... I kept the rest of the make up very simple... only mascara and foundation... the red colour was the only focus.

Now, the best part-
- It does not smudge at ALL... I applied it in the morning... and touched up after lunch. I generally never touch up but the lunch was a heavy one  and a touch up made it look better
- It looked just as fresh at the end of the day
- It goes on like a gloss and then becomes matte. I blotted it after applying to make it matte and look like a stain
- It does not moisturise and does not dry. My lips are very dry and I apply a lip balm every hour. I did not need the lip balm even once throughout the day. The 2nd non drying lipstick (after Ronnie Red)
- It does not bleed. To be safe, I applied a lip liner anyway.

Please ignore the oiliness on my face.... I have very oily skin and the light in office did not help in the pictures.

On my next visit to Sephora I will pick up a few more shades of this lip stain.
Very, very good.

Revlon Lip Bitten stain+lip balm

Posted by Buls on 6:51 PM in , ,
I own a Clinique chubby stick but they are quite expensive. When I heard Revlon has launched something similar for a lower price I rushed to the nearest Health and Glow to buy them.

I bought a mix of shades- 1 light and 2 dark. The chubby sticks/lip stains look best in darker shades rather than lighter. My Clinique chubby stick is a melon shade. I should have purchased a darker one.

Top to bottom- Rendezvous, Crush, Lovesick.

I love wanted different shades- I love orange... pink is obvious... a maroon is my preferred shade these days (am I getting old?)

Top to bottom- The orange is melon.. quite light. The 2nd one- pinkish maroon (and not reddish maroon) is very dark... the 3rd is a bright bubblegum pink.

They are all priced at Rs 600. They are not moisturizing but do not dry lips. They are soft and glide on easily. The packaging is same as Clinique- retractable pencil. It has a minty flavor and fragrance which is very different from a normal lipstick/gloss. I like it.

They are not sticky and feel light on the lips. There is a nice minty feeling on the lips.

Don't mind the lip pics. I do not have any make up and did not make the effort to clean my oily skin.

Wearing- Rendezvous. It is a light orange which does not show too well since I have pink lips.

WP_20130310_024

Wearing Crush. It is a dark pink. The darker shades leave a stain on the lips. So, even if they wear off the color remains. I like that.

Wearing Lovesick. Looks nice, doesn't it? It is a fuchsia pink.

Will I re-purchase? No... only 'coz I have already bought all the shades I would have wanted. Love them.

Edited to add:

I wore Bubblegum all day today and the color lasts all day. It does come off when eating but thats expected with all lipsticks. It keeps the lips moisturized and even when I use a lip balm it does not come off.

My colleagues told me how fresh I look with this color. Love it.
