Lush Beer Shampoo

Posted by Buls on 3:11 PM in , ,
I don't use any Lush products loyally... I just buy them to add some zing to my daily routine. I think the products are too expensive to be part of my regular regime.
I purchased the beer shampoo few months back. Right now, beer is the new trend. I think it was sparked by Park Avenue's beer shampoo.
Anyway, I bought the beer shampoo. It costs Rs 530 for 100 gm.

Picture taken from the internet.

The shampoo is light brown in color and smells of beer (???). I have not smelled beer in a long time so I am not sure. It has a weird smell which stays on the hair all day. I don't mind it so much but everyone may not like it. A little shampoo makes my hair squeaky clean and moisturised. I still need a conditioner but I can skip it once in a while. The best part is it adds shine to my hair.
I will not re-purchase it 'coz of the price. It is like a regular shampoo.... nothing extra ordinary.

August Vellvette Box

Posted by Buls on 7:38 PM in , ,
The August Vellvette Box reached me yesterday (after a lot of follow up). I am not going to post the details this time coz I am super pissed.
This is what happened. I had paid for 3 months subscription (August being the last month). Since I moved from Mumbai to Gurgaon, I mailed their customer care on 26th with the updated address. There was no response. I left a message on facebook complaining on the lack of response. Some female- Shruty mailed me asking for the address. I sent it across. On 4th Sept, I received a mail apologizing for the delay in sending the boxes. I called them 2 days later to check if it has been shipped. They had sent it to the Mumbai address. The lady on the phone promised to ask blue dart to divert it to Gurgaon address. I called 3 days later to check on the status. Another lady was completely clueless and confirmed that the box had been delivered to the Mumbai address. She then promised to get the box picked up from the Mumbai address and send it to Gurgaon address. WTF!!! I lost my temper at this stage. I asked her to refund my money since they are such morons. I sent them a stinker on mail and posted it on facebook. Another lady called me after an hour... apologized and promised to ship the box next day itself. The next day she called again to confirm the address (by this time I had given my address 4 times). I received the box next day. The description of the product on the flyer and the product itself do not match. E.g- The flyer mentions H2O gel moisturizer but I have received the under eye cream. They sent me an extra sample of Mary Kay pencil eye liner and lip liner. The samples are very tiny and sufficient for one time use only.
I am pissed off. They had a good business model but the service levels have gone down in the last few months. It is obvious they do not have enough people and the first thing affected is the service. Following up so much for a box which costs 400 bucks is too much effort. I don't know if I will continue any further or not. If I do, it will be with a pinch of salt.

Outfit Post- How to wear a red skirt

Posted by Buls on 7:21 PM in , , , , ,
I had been looking for a maxi skirt for the longest time but it cost 2k in all brands- Zara, Mango and Promod during the sale.
When Promod dropped prices I grabbed the skirt. I can think of so many ways to style this... it is very versatile. I decided to wear it today (Friday) casually.

Tee- Mango (hate the quality... never buying Mango tees again), Vest- Sarojini Nagar, Skirt- Promod

I love that the skirt has pockets. How cool!!!
I paired them with Charles and Keith brown sandals.

Bandhani inspired nail art

Posted by Buls on 9:31 PM in , , , ,
I was bored with my nails and wanted to try a nail art. I decided to try blue on blue with an ear bud (I do not have any toothpicks at home).
The result was a little messy and not uniform but looked like a baandhani design.

How to do it?

1) Apply base coat. I used Sally Hansan's miracle cure I received in my Vellvette box
2) Apply a dark blue colour nail paint. I used Inglot... love the colour.
3) Use Colorbar's light blue nail paint for making the dots. I dipped the ear bud in the nail paint and made the dots
4) Apply top coat. I used Sally Hansen's insta dry top coat

Takes 15 minutes.

What I have been wearing

Posted by Buls on 10:38 AM in , , , , , , ,
Hiya. I wanted to post pictures of what I have been wearing. I have moved jobs and so I have been dressing a little conservatively... but only for now. I will get back to original in a few weeks. Also, taking pictures is not the most convenient since I have only 1 full length mirror. Trying to figure a way out.

Don't mind the hazy pics.

I wanted pyajama style pants with flower print for quite sometime but where ever I checked they cost atleast 2k. So not worth it. Few weeks back Promod dropped sale prices further and thats when I got lucky. I found the perfect pants for 1k.

Pants- Promod, Top- Zara (old), Footwear- Steve Madden. The flats were a perfect match to this outfit. Next time, I will pair these pants with a navy blue top or red... something bright.

I came across these Elle orange pants on myntra.com for 50% off. That is the advantage of online shopping. I did not see them in any of the stores but found them online. I paired them with a white tee from Sarojini Nagar. I love the quality of this tee... it is as good (or even better) than high end brands. Since I was going to be on my feet I had to wear shoes... I wore my navy blue Bata shoes. I love the pants... they are low waist but fit quite well.

Nail Art for work

Posted by Buls on 11:21 AM in , , , , , ,
I have joined a new job and am back at Delhi. Yeah... lots of shopping except I don't feel like it.

Anyway, I have been very lazy and pushed myself to try a new nail art. Since it is my first week at work I don't want to try something drastic and wanted something subtle.

This is what I did- glossy tips on matte nails.

Nail paints used- base coat (Sally Hansen nail whitener- do not like it... trying to finish it off), Maybelline Colorama black nail polish, Inglot matte top coat, Inglot nail art pen in black (you can use a regular black paint also but the thick brush will be tricky to use).

 How to:
- Apply base. Apply black nail paint
- Let it dry. Top with a matte coat
- Let it dry.
- Carefully apply black nail paint on tips
- Do not use any top coat else the matte effect will be gone

This is a very subtle nail art and noticeable only at close quarters.

Packing Shacking

Posted by Buls on 10:42 PM in , , , ,
The first thing I did while packing was put away my sarees, winter wear and blazers. I don't need them in Mumbai.

I love blazers... I bought my first blazer in 2012 when I had to attend the company conference. Since then, I have bought some 7 more blazers.

Top row - Forever 21, Forever 21, Asos
Bottom row- Zara, Forever 21, Promod

2 are missing from the pic. I want one more in pink.

Sunday Chores

Posted by Buls on 10:32 PM in ,
I am moving back to Gurgaon from Mumbai and packing has started.
I woke up at 7.30 am and started organizing my nail paints. No... I didn't count them. Thankfully, there were only 2 nail paints which had become thick and had to be thrown away. All the others are very much wearable.

I put labels on top of each nail paint to make it easy to identify. Earlier, I had to spend too much time finding a nail paint. And there are some I have not worn in ages.

Anyway, right now I am letting my nails breathe since they have become yellow. So, no more nail paints this week.

July Vellvette Box

The much awaited box is finally here. My colleague received it on Friday but I didn't. I was so disappointed. And then it arrived on Tuesday. Weird!!! Wouldn't it have saved money if we both would have received it on the same day?

Anyway, I was very excited on seeing her box.

The products in my box:
- Sally Hansen Miracle Cure: Full size product. MRP Rs 675. I am so happy to receive this product. My nails are in bad shape- brittle, chipping, yellow. This product claims to strengthen nails by 50% in 3 days.

- Nyassa Passion Burst Body Mist: sample size. Normally, I would be happy to receive a body mist but this one smells like a very cheap perfume. Hate it.

- LA Splash glitter masacara: Full size. MRP Rs 895. I am happy to receive a full size mascara which is also smudge proof... just what I need during monsoons. Love it. I wish I could have received a funky colour like blue or purple... but I will make do with a glitter mascara... my first.

- Bling nail appliques: Full size. MRP Rs 150. I am happy to receive these since I do experiment with nails. They are very delicate and need to be carefully applied. Unlike the other nail stickers, a top coat also needs to be applied. Love the net and flower design.

L'Oreal nail art

Posted by Buls on 9:37 PM in , ,
I decided to try the nail art stickers this weekend. I have Sephora, Revlon and L'Oreal. I had tried L'Oreal in December'12 as well. I bought a new pack few months back and finally opened it.

I bought the shade 011- monogram which looks like a gold smiley on a black base but actually it is the logo of the L'Or collection launched during Cannes.

Claims made on the pack:
- Applies ultra easily
- Long wear- upto 10 days of wear
- Zero drying time or smudging
- 3 step application
- instant couture result

There are 18 stickers in pack priced at Rs 299. There are different shape for every size and shape of nail.

There are many designs and I like this the best. Everything else is too much bling. I applied these on alternate fingers on my left hand with gold nail paint.
To apply these:
- remove the nail sticker from the plastic film. Position on clean nails (do not apply on nails with any nailpaint... it has to be over bare nails)
- Fold the extra part of the sticker over the nail
- File nails to remove excess

Applying this is easy. Since I have used Revlon and Sephora, I can review these better. Sephora is so thin that most of the stickers tore off while applying (and they cost 600 bucks) while Revlon was perfect in this aspect. L'Oreal stickers are thicker than these which means they will last longer. The con is that there are bubbles while applying and filing them is very, very difficult. There was some extra part which felt very rough on my skin and very uncomfortable.

This is what it looked like in less than a day. The design had worn off the edge and only plastic could be seen at the edges.

Overall, I am not happy.

Pros:
- Nice designs.... blingy... good for party wear
- Inexpensive... considering it is L'Oreal and Sally Hanson/Sephora cost much more

Cons:
- Filing is very difficult making it uneven
- Since it is thick, does not fit nails as well as Revlon
- Does not last more than 1 day
- The design comes off the edges making it look horrible

Will I re-purchase? No

I think I will buy them only for an occasion like a wedding but otherwise avoid. I prefer the Revlon designs and product compared to L'Oreal.
